Nalin completed a BSc (Hons) in Hydrology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. His research for the NGO groundWork focused on South African inter-basin water transfers from the perspective of environmental justice. His most recent research at the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) investigated the hydrological changes of South Africa’s largest freshwater lake, Lake Sibaya.
Nalin is a Water Resources and Climate Resilience Consultant at the World Bank. He is based in the Water Global Practice's Climate Change Team as a core member and support international development through climate resilience and water security.
During early lockdown, he co-developed a project for remote mapping and automated reporting of the static water tanks of KwaZulu-Natal, helping to combat COVID-19 in vulnerable communities. Nalin intends to work for water security in Southern Africa and globally – to manage and develop water resources in a sustainable manner.
Nalin currently resides in Durban, South Africa.
