Max Rath is a medical doctor and specialist physician from South Africa. He completed his undergraduate training and Master’s degree at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. In 2019 during his time specialising as a physician, he founded the university’s first health innovation organisation, Wits Healthcare Innovation (WHI). His work at WHI focuses on developing and supporting initiatives that address urgent issues within South Africa’s public healthcare sector. He has advised several public and private institutions on health innovation and strategy. In 2022, he co-chaired the session “Artificial Intelligence – the Next Frontier” at the South African Heart Association Congress. He is currently involved in international research on artificial intelligence in cardiology. Max aims to impact healthcare at scale, both in his home country and globally.
