Driven by the desire to contribute to socio-economic development of African communities, Ilunga studied for a MSc in African Studies and a Master of Public Policy at Oxford.

After graduation, he worked in various projects promoting effective policy making and implementation in East Africa. These include working on public investment management with the World Bank in Uganda and as a consultant with public and private organisations in Kenya. Currently working in the aerospace sector, Ilunga is supporting governments across Africa in their efforts to deploy technology to address modern development challenges in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, skills development and employment.

Prior to this, Ilunga worked on a joint programme between the United Nations World Food Programme and the Provincial Government of Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he supported the government in elaborating a strategic triennial Action Plan for Education. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris in France.

Ilunga also frequently comments on the political situation of his native country – D.R. Congo – on the online platform ‘Democracy in Africa’ (http://democracyinafrica.org/)
