Funding: Louis Dreyfus
As a Louis Dreyfus Scholar, Dina graduated from Oxford with an MSc in Environmental Change and Management. She later obtained her doctorate from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in the United Kingdom, where she was IDS’ doctoral scholarship recipient. Her action-research and qualitative study focused on the politics of public participation in climate adaptation decision-making, taking Egypt as a case study. She is currently an independent researcher and consultant.
Prior to Oxford, Dina was a Cairo-based Reuters Correspondent until 2012, writing across the full gamut of what the agency produces, ranging from commodities, energy, equities, environment, and more frequently politics. She was part of the agency’s award-winning team producing coverage on the Arab Spring. During her tenure, she also led the expansion of nation-wide environmental coverage, working on the Nile Basin dispute, climate change in the Arab world, and water scarcity.
Dina holds a BA in Political Science, with minors in History and Comparative Literature, from the American University in Cairo, where she graduated summa cum laude.
