Yifan Ping is currently a PhD candidate in Social Anthropology at the University fo Chicago. Previously, they were a research analyst at the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO) in Paris. They hold a BA (with Highest Honours) in Social Anthropology from Swarthmore College (US). During their undergraduate degree, they worked as a teaching and research assistant. Yifan received the Lang Social Impact Fellowship to conduct social-action projects, focusing on improving the Chinese government’s transparency and efficiency in facilitating the cross-border transactions of capital and talent. They have also worked with Panopath Education, the biggest student-led NGO in China that aims to dismantle information asymmetry in the college application process for high school students. Prior to this, Yifan was a Lead Writing Associate Fellow at Swarthmore and an English teacher in China specializing in preparing bilingual/ESL students for standardized tests.
