Vanessa Nakate is a climate justice activist and cofounder of the Tard Foundation. She holds a Business Administration degree from Makerere University Business School and is the author of A Bigger Picture. She also started the Vash Green Schools Project, which aims to install solar panels and clean cooking stoves in Uganda’s schools. Vanessa is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador as well as a board member at the Malala Fund. She has received several accolades and recognitions including Time 100 Next in 2021. She believes that pursuing the MPP at Oxford will provide her with new knowledge, skills, and opportunities to grow her activism and make a meaningful impact on global environmental policies.

After graduating from Oxford, Vanessa plans to influence climate policies at community, national, and international levels and aspires to become a policy advisor, working closely with global organizations to develop and implement effective strategies for mitigating climate change and promoting sustainable development.
