MSc Water Science, Policy and Management, 2011
Wolfson College
Funding: Arcadia

After obtaining a law degree from the University of Chicago in 2005, Rhett worked as an Attorney specialising in environment, sustainable development and water policy. In 2011, he graduated with an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management as a Weidenfeld Scholar.

Rhett’s interest in water policy developed whilst working in the Dominican Republic in 1998 when Hurricane Georges caused major devastation in the country. The problem of contaminated water supplies in the aftermath of the disaster opened his eyes to the importance of water resource management as a development and security issue.

Combining law and science and applying it to environmental and natural resource law, Rhett has already had significant practical experience working for several law firms. He plans to use his theoretical knowledge of the subject to  help him pursue a career in formulating water policy, supporting affordable water treatment technologies and mediating resource disputes.

Rhett is currently working as Richard Morrison Professor of Water Law at Arizona State University and Senior Research Fellow at Kyl Center for Water Policy. He is also a Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador and Lady David Fellow and Visiting Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Rhett now resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
