Nameerah completed her BSc in Biochemistry from Adelphi University, New York, in 2011. While there, she was a recipient of the Adelphi University Presidential Merit Scholarship, a member of the Honors College, and she worked as a teaching assistant in the Chemistry department. After graduating, she worked in the Quality Assurance department at the multinational pharmaceutical company Novartis for over a year, before shifting gears and following a career in public health and development. She then joined BRAC, the world’s largest NGO, in January 2013 at the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Programme, which seeks to help increase access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for poor, marginalized and vulnerable populations across rural and remote areas in Bangladesh. By 2015 Nameerah completed a Master of Public Health degree from the James P. Grant School of Public Health in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Nameerah is currently a DPhil student in the School of Geography and the Environment at Oxford as well as a research associate in the same department.
