Prior to completing her Oxford studies in 2012, Nadira graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Earlham College in the US with a BA in International Studies (2010).

In 2010-11, she worked at the Quaker United Nations Office in New York on the Prevention of Violent Conflict and Peacebuilding programmes. There, she prepared for and participated in diplomacy and mediation initiatives involving UN diplomats and staff within the Secretariat and other UN bodies. Previously, Nadira had worked as a Summer Fellow at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California where she conducted research on disarmament issues.

Nadira is currently Programme Manager at the Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), where she is a Programme Manager. She leads the Global Centre’s work on the Global Network of R2P Focal Points – a network of senior government officials appointed to promote the Responsibility to Protect and mass atrocity prevention at national, regional and international levels. Nadira is also a member of the Steering Group of the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes (GAAMAC) – a network of states, non-profit organizations and academic institutions who work collaboratively to provide a platform for the prevention of atrocities. Additionally, Nadira conducts research and advocacy with UN member states to urge greater responses to mass atrocity situations, with a current focus on Myanmar and North Korea.
