Diana earned her B.A. in International Relations (with distinction) from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in 2014. While studying, she participated in several development projects in Mexico and abroad. She acted as a one of the five Youth Representatives of Mexico at the G20 Youth Summit in 2010 and she participated as volunteer and coordinator in children education projects in Nepal and Mexico, among others.
After graduating from her MPhil in Development Studies, with research concerning the understanding, from a feminist political ecology approach, the indigenous movement in Hopelchen (Campeche, Mexico) against Monsanto’s genetically modified soybean seeds, Diana worked on an initiative against gender-based violence, called No Somos Medias Naranjas, which she co-founded and which seeks to raise public awareness and prevent violence against women in Mexico.
She is currently a PhD candidate in International Development at the University of East Anglia and the University of Copenhagen where here research focus is on the intersections between environment, gender and justice in Latin America. She is also a Research Officer at ODI working on ALiGN (Advancing Learning & Innovation on Gender Norms) which brings together global gender norms research & lessons for transformative change.
She has authored published research, as well as various academic book reviews.
