She is a Yemeni political researcher/analyst based in Berlin. She is currently working as a project manager at the Berghof Foundation where her work focuses on strengthening inclusive local governance in Yemen.
Her previous work experience includes working as a journalist for the Yemen Times. Alia holds a master degree in Public Policy from University of Oxford and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the American University in Cairo, specializing in international relations and international law. She is a recipient of Al-Jazeera Award for Youth Researchers and is the founder and first president of the Women Empowerment Club at the American University in Cairo.
